چکیده

Cold-formed steel sections are becoming popular for different structures, because they have a high resistance against straining actions, with minimal weight compared hard sections. Recently, perforated cold-formed (PCFS) been used in many applications, such as upright storage racks. Experimental research into the behavior of rack uprights subjected to axial compression is presented this paper. First, tensile tests determined material qualities uprights. Then, seventeen specimens were examined under compression, five cross-sections, three web heights and thicknesses, varying lengths. The study’s goals find out how perforations affect performance failure mode uprights, discuss interaction distortional global buckling, verify accuracy using direct strength method (DSM) predicting ultimate before buckling interactions It was found that modes stiffeners generally cannot be well predicted method. However, when modifications proposed by Xianzhong Zhao et al. used, acceptable.

Numerical and Experimental Investigations on the Behavior of Steel-reinforced Concrete Columns Subjected to Eccentric Loading

Steel-reinforced concrete (SRC) columns, which are classified as composite columns, became the most widely used in recent years; because of their extensive advantages over the reinforced concrete and the steel columns. In this paper, the ductility index and its influential factors were explored to investigate the behavior of SRC columns. A straightforward approach was then proposed by establish...

Experimental and Numerical Study of Perforated Open Steel Sections, Subject to Compression

The results of several perforated steel thin-walled U-shaped sections subject to compression are presented. The ultimate strength obtained from experimental tests is compared to the one obtained from numerical simulation by finite element method. The experimental tests were carried out according to the standard 10.2.02 of the FEM. The meshing, loading, boundary conditions for supports, geometri...

Behavior of Hollow-Core FRP-Concrete-Steel Columns Subjected To Cyclic Axial Compression

This report presents the results of an experimental study that was conducted to investigate the effects of key parameters on the compressive behavior of fiber reinforced polymer (FRP)concrete-steel double-skin tubular columns (FSDT). Hybrid FSDT columns have been introduced as a new form of hybrid columns. They consist of an outer tube made of FRP and inner tube made of steel, with sandwiched c...

Simulation of conventional cold-formed steel sections formed from Advanced High Strength Steel (AHSS)

The objective of this paper is to explore the potential impact of the use of advanced high strength steel (AHSS) to form traditional cold-formed steel structural members. In this study, shell finite element models are constructed, and geometric and material nonlinear collapse analysis performed, on simulated lipped channel cross-section cold-formed steel members roll-formed from AHSS. AHSS shee...

Cyclic Behavior of Cold-Formed Steel Stud-to-Sheathing Connections

This series of experiments aims to characterize the cyclic behavior of cold-formed steel (CFS) stud-to-sheathing connections. This connection provides the key energy dissipating behavior in wood sheathed CFS shear walls, and provides bracing to the studs under gravity and out-of-plane loads. A simple testing rig is developed consisting of two CFS lipped channels facing toe-to-toe connected on t...
